Trio of Midseason All-Americans

Arceri, Polisky and Brindisi named Inside Lacrosse Women's DI Midseason Media All-Americans

STANFORD, Calif. — In the midst of what has already been a historic season to date, three Stanford women’s lacrosse players have garnered Inside Lacrosse DI Women’s Midseason All-America recognition, the organization announced Thursday.

Among the list is new additions Sophia Brindisi (honorable mention) and Ava Arceri (honorable mention) while Aliya Polisky (third team) remakes the list after being named to Third Team Preseason All-American earlier this spring.

Polisky currently leads the Cardinal in what has been a strong sophomore campaign, amassing 39 goals and 46 points in 12 games this season. Polisky currently sits tied with Arceri in game-winning goals with three this season and has grabbed a hat trick in 10 games this season after the game against Army - tying her hat trick total from last season in the process. Polisky was named the USA Lacrosse Magazine Player of the Week on Feb. 11 after her eight-point outing in the season opener against USC.

Brindisi makes the All-American list for her strong defensive efforts this season as the Cardinal has repeatedly stymied the opposition in its defensive end. Brindisi sits second on the team in caused turnovers (11) and fourth in ground balls (21) while serving as one of the defensive captains for the Cardinal. Alongside her teammates, Brindisi and the Cardinal have posted a 9.36 goals-against average which sits in the top 20 this season among DI programs while also posting five games where the opponent has scored seven goals or less.

Arceri sees her name on the list in what is a turnaround campaign from a year ago as the sophomore has already posted a career high in every scoring category. Having only grabbed four goals in her freshman campaign, Arceri has soared this year, grabbing 31 goals which is good for second on the team en route to 41 points. Arceri grabbed conference honors earlier this month after a four-point outing in Stanford’s ACC home-opening win over Pitt.

No. 4/6 Stanford continues its season-long road swing this weekend, taking on ACC opposition, Louisville, on Saturday, March 29. Opening draw is slated for 9 a.m. PT.
